You've heard the old adage that morning meal is the most important meal of the day right?....Well, one of the reasons for this is that if you skip breakfast, studies have shown that for the rest of your day you will be prone to higher caloric intake. You might ask what the heck that means...Well, put simply, it means that when you don't eat breakfast, you put on more weight! Now, I know that sounds like nonsense - I mean how can not eating lead to you putting on weight? of course if you don't eat, you will get thinner? Not so - see if you skip breakfast, then your body goes into a survival mode, reasoning there is scarcity of food, your body will make you overeat at lunch and at dinner, of course causing you to take in more fat through the day than if you ate breakfast. Of policy this is not good - we want to lose weight, not gain it so its important that we eat a good, salutary breakfast. It's always tricky though, eating a bowl of cereal every morning is just boring, so here are a few great tasting, salutary breakfasts to get you going in the morning and help you lose weight after being pregnant.
Whole wheat toast and grapefruit - sprinkle a little bit of brown sugar on a grapefruit and put it under the grill for a few minutes. The sugar will caramelise and you will have a tasty breakfast, getting one of your five a day. Go easy on the butter on the whole wheat toast. If you cut the segments of the grapefruit before you grill it, it will be easier to eat and avoid the old "grapefruit juice in the eye" morning meal disaster!

Porridge may seem like the sort of thing your grandmother used to eat, but it has been shown that porridge provides you with a great start, giving a slow issue of energy to keep you going throughout the day. Sweeten it with some mashed bananas or a little honey.
If you fancy a treat in the morning, you can't beat a smoked salmon on a bagel. The salmon will give you a good dose of protein and the bagel your carbs to give you a great starting to the day. A little lemon juice can of course help bring out the flavour - this is one of my favourite breakfasts - so delicious. Use a little low fat cream cheese on the bagel instead of butter.
Yoghurt, fruit and muesli - a good old Swiss recipe, low fat yoghurt and muesli is a fantastic way to begin your day! Add a little skimmed milk to the muesli or if your yoghurt is more more runny than set, just pour it on the muesli and eat it like that. Adding in some chopped apple or bananas makes it taste even better. Make sure you buy muesli without added sugar!
Scrambled eggs and green bell peppers. Eggs can of course set you up in the morning, so if you have a busy day ahead of you and you of course need to be at your best, try scrambled eggs and green bell peppers. Moderately fry the peppers (cut finely) in the pan before scrambling your eggs. The peppers add a nice fresh crunch to the eggs. Adding a little onion can also heighten the flavour, production a tasty and salutary breakfast. A bit of whole wheat toast on the side and you'll be raring to go.
There you have it, a few of my favourite morning meal recipes to make sure I don't crash and burn at lunch and dinner time and keep me on the weight loss path. Hope you enjoy them!
